An old comic doodle, from a series of concept illustrations I used to call "Silver Nitrate". Based on one of my comic character's - Sebastian's - fear of fingernails.
Silver nitrate (AgNO₃), also known as "lunar caustic", is a chemical salt historically used as an antiseptic and to close small wounds. Due to its sensitivity to light, it is still used in photography films. As well as for difficult nosebleeds.
